Should I Drink Protein Shakes After Boxing?

We’ve all seen bodybuilders and those who want to build muscle use protein shakes in their diet. The reason is simple – to be able to meet the necessary daily intake.

But what about boxers? I mean, we don’t really strive to build much muscle, so can it come of any use?

Sure!

Boxers, just like any other athletes, can benefit from taking additional protein supplements, in a form of a shake in this case. That being said, there is a right and wrong way to do it…

What i mean by that is that you should not fully depend on the protein powder alone. In other words, most of the protein intake should come from an actual diet – the protein shake is only used for supplementing your intake!

Here’s a great video of a boxer’s daily meal plan:

Take note at just how varied the meals are – they have carbs, fats and protein; all of them are just as important!

To put it simply, i think that taking a scoop of protein powder a day is enough.

What does it help me with?

Primarily building muscle and strength. Many people think that protein shakes help muscle recovery and pain reduction, but that has not yet been proven.

If shakes aren’t your thing, you don’t have to consume them in that form. Mix the protein powder with oatmeal; put some berries, honey, seeds and you have a great tasting meal!
